100 Hindi sentences for daily use
Natural, everyday Hindi sentences with English meanings and pronunciation — grouped from morning to night, with tips for making your own.
These are the sentences people actually say to each other every day in Hindi — at breakfast, on the phone, in an auto-rickshaw, over dinner. Learning them as whole sentences, rather than word by word, gives you ready-made patterns you can start using immediately and then adapt. They are grouped by the part of the day or situation, ten to a table.
This page is deliberately different from our common Hindi phrases list, which covers survival basics (hello, thank you, where is…). Here the focus is on full, natural sentences for ordinary life with people you see every day. Romanized pronunciation follows the same simple system used across the site; if you can read Devanagari, the script guide will help you check the sounds.
How Hindi sentences are built
Three ideas explain most of the sentences below. For the full picture, see Hindi grammar basics.
1. The verb goes last
English is subject–verb–object; Hindi is subject–object–verb. “I drink tea” becomes मैं चाय पीता हूँ (main chaay peeta hoon) — literally “I tea drink am”. Whatever else happens in the sentence, the verb and its helper usually close it.
2. Postpositions, not prepositions
Little words like “in”, “on” and “with” come after the noun: घर में (ghar mein, in the house), मेज़ पर (mez par, on the table), दोस्त के साथ (dost ke saath, with a friend).
3. है, हैं, हूँ, हो — the forms of “to be”
The helper verb at the end matches the subject: मैं … हूँ (hoon), तुम … हो (ho), वह … है (hai), and आप / हम / वे … हैं (hain). The polite आप always takes the plural हैं, even for one person.
Two more quick rules: to turn a statement into a yes/no question, raise your voice at the end or put क्या (kya) at the front. To make it negative, put नहीं (nahin) before the verb — and in speech the final है or हूँ is often dropped: मुझे नहीं पता rather than मुझे नहीं पता है.
